أ1 هَتَأَ, aor. ـَ (K,) inf. n. هَتْءٌ, (TA,) He beat a person (K) with a staff or stick. (TA.) b2: هَتِئَ, aor. ـَ He was bent, or crooked. (K.) 5 تهتّأ It (a garment) became ragged, and worn out. (S, K.) مَضَى مِنَ اللَّيْلِ هَتْءٌ, and ↓ هِتْءٌ, (ISk, K,) and ↓ هَتِىْءٌ, (Lh, K,) and ↓ هَتِىٌّ, (Lh,) and ↓ هِتَاءٌ, and ↓ هِيتِئٌ (same measure as زِبْرِجٌ, as in the TA), or ↓ هِتْيَآءٌ, (as in the CK and a MS. copy) and ↓ هِيتَآءٌ, (K,) and ↓ هَتْأَةٌ, (AHeyth, K,) A portion of the night elapsed (K, &c.) b2: مَا بَقِىَ مِنْ غَنَمِهِمْ إِلَّا هِتْءٌ There remained not, of their sheep, or goats, save a part, less than the part that had gone away.
