ى1 نَبَاَ عَنِ الضَّرِيبَةِ It (a sword) recoiled, or reverted, [or glanced off, or away,] from the thing struck with it, without penetrating, or without effect; (TA;) returned from it without cutting; (Msb;) took no effect upon it; (S;) syn. كَلَّ. (K.) b2: نَبَاَ It (the edge of a sword) would not cut; was blunt. (TA.) b3: نَبَاَ عَنِ الشَّىْءِ It (the sight) recoiled, or reverted, from the thing; was repelled by it; (S, * K, * TA;) syn. تَجَافَى (TA) and كلّ. (K.) b4: نَبَا عَنِ الشَّىْءِ It (nature) recoiled, flinched, shrank, or was averse, from the thing, or shunned it, and would not accept it. (Msb.) b5: نَبَا جَنْبُهُ عَنِ الفِرَاشِ (tropical:) His side did not rest, or was restless, or uneasy, upon the bed: (K, TA:) it shrank from it. b6: نَبَا It (a saddle) was unfirm, or unsteady; not firm, or steady, in its place.
