ايلاوش: معرب من الــيونانية ايلاوس: ألم حرقفي (الجريدة الاسيوية، 1853، 1: 346)، وعند شكوري (ص 194ق): القولنج المسمى أَيْلاوش، وتفسيره: رب سلم. وهذا القولنج أصعب أنواع القولنجات وأكثرها، ويقال إن من أسمائه: المستعاذ منه.

برِينُس: صنف من البلوط. وهذا فيما أراه هو صواب ضبط الكلمة التي وردت في كتاب ابن البيطار (1: 132) في نسخة ف و (1: 183) في نسخة د 4 وفي مخطوطتي برنيس أو برسى من غير نقط. وذلك لأن ابن البيطار يقول إنها اسم يوناني. ومن اليسير أن نعرف إنها الكلمة الــيونانية برينُس أي البلوط الأخضر.
غير أن ابن البيطار، يخلط فيما يظهر، بينه وبين صنف آخر من البلوط. فهو يذكر كلمة شوبر وهي من اللاتينية سوبر suber بمعنى خفيف اسماً لهذه الشجرة في عجمية الأندلس.
