ز ف ر: (الزَّفِيرُ) أَوَّلُ صَوْتِ الْحِمَارِ وَالشَّهِيقُ آخِرُهُ، لِأَنَّ الزَّفِيرَ إِدْخَالُ النَّفَسِ وَالشَّهِيقَ إِخْرَاجُهُ. وَقَدْ (زَفَرَ) يَزْفِرُ بِالْكَسْرِ (زَفِيرًا) وَالِاسْمُ (الزَّفْرَةُ) وَالْجَمْعُ زَفَرَاتٌ بِفَتْحِ الْفَاءِ لِأَنَّهُ اسْمٌ لَا نَعْتٌ. وَرُبَّمَا سَكَّنَهَا الشَّاعِرُ لِلضَّرُورَةِ.
