دره: درَّه (بالتشديد)، في الهند درَّه دائن مدينة (ابن بطوطة 3: 411، 412) بمعنى هاجمه أو أقام عليه الدعوى، ويظهر أن اللفظة مشتقة من قولهم درهمي السلطان أي يا عدو السلطان. انظر ابن بطوطة (3: 412).

(دَرَهَ) الدَّالُ وَالرَّاءُ وَالْهَاءُ لَيْسَ أَصْلًا; لِأَنَّ الْهَاءَ مُبْدَلَةٌ مِنْ هَمْزَةٍ. يُقَالُ: دَرَأَ أَيْ طَلَعَ، ثُمَّ يُقْلَبُ هَاءً; فَيُقَالُ دَرَهَ. وَالْمِدْرَهُ: لِسَانُ الْقَوْمِ وَالْمُتَكَلِّمُ عَنْهُمْ.
