الخُبْدُعُ، كقُطْرُبٍ والدّال مُهْمَلَة، أَهملَهُ الجَوهَرِيّ. وقالَ ابنُ دُرَيْدٍ: هُوَ الضِّفْدَع فِي بَعْضِ اللُّغَاتِ، وضَبَطَهُ صاحِبُ اللِّسَان بالذّالِ المُعْجَمَةِ.
