[صيص] قال الاموى: الصيص في لغة بلحارث بن كعب: الحشف من التمر. والصيصُ والصيصاءُ: لغةٌ في الشيص والشيصاء. والصيصاء أيضا: حَبُّ الحنظلِ الذي ليس في جوفه لب. وأنشد أبو نصر لذى الرمة: بأرجائه القردان هزلى كأنها * نوادر صيصاء الهبيد المحطم * والصيصية: شوكة الحائك التي يُسوِّي بها السَداةَ واللُحمةَ قال دُرَيد بن الصِمَّة: فجئتُ إليها والرماحُ تَنوشُهُ * كوَقْعِ الصَياصي في النَسيجِ المُمَدَّدِ * ومنه صَيصِيَةُ الديك التي في رجليه. وصَياصي البقَرِ: قرونها. وربما كانت تركَّب في الرماح مكانَ الأسِنَّة. والصَياصي: الحصون.
