[صيح] الصِياحُ: الصوت. تقول: صاحَ يَصيحُ صَيْحاً وصَيْحةً وصِياحاً وصُياحاً بالضم، وصيحانا بالتحريك. والمصايحة والتصايح: أن يصيح القوم بعضهم ببعض. والصيحة: العذاب. وأصُله من الأوَّل. وقولهم: لَقيتُهُ قَبْلَ كلِّ صَيْحٍ ونَفْرٍ، فالصَيْحُ: الصِياحُ، والنَفْرُ: التَفَرُّقُ، وذلك إذا لَقيتَه قبل طلوع الفجر. ابن السكيت: يقال غضِبَ من غير صَيْحٍ ولا نَفْرٍ، أي من غير قليل ولا كثير. وأنشد: كَذوبٌ مَحولٌ يَجْعَلُ اللهَ جُنَّةً * لأيْمانِهِ من غير صَيْحٍ ولا نَفْرِ وتَصَيَّحَ البقْلُ: لغة في تَصَوَّحَ. وصَيَّحَتْهُ الريحُ والشمس، مثل صَوَّحَتْهُ. والصَيْحَانِيُّ: ضرب من تمر المدينة.
