(هَطَلَ) الْهَاءُ وَالطَّاءُ وَاللَّامُ: كَلِمَةٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى تَتَابُعٍ فِي قَطْرٍ وَغَيْرِهِ. وَهَطَلَ الْمَطَرُ هَطَلَانًا: تَتَابَعَ، وَكَذَلِكَ الدَّمْعُ. وَدِيمَةٌ هَطْلَاءُ. وَإِبِلٌ هَطْلَى: تَجِيءُ رُوَيْدًا مُتَتَابِعَةً. وَكَذَلِكَ يَقُولُونَ لِلْمُعْيِي مِنْهَا: هَطِلٌ.
