[هرشف] الهِرْشَفَّةُ: قطعة خِرقةٍ أو كساء ينشف بها بها ماء المطر من الأرض ثم يُعصرُ في الجُفِّ، وذلك في قلَّة الماء. قال الراجز طوبى لمن كانت له هرشفه ونشفة يملا منها كفه وقال آخر: كل عجوز رأسها كالكفه تحمل جفا معها هرشفه قال أبو عبيد: وبعضهم يقول الهِرْشَفَّةُ من نعت العجوز، وهي الكبيرة.
