[هرت] هَرَتَ اللحم: طبخَه حتَّى تَهَرَّأ. وهَرَتَ الثوبَ، أي مزَّقه. وهَرَتَ عِرضَه، إذا طعن فيه. والهَريتُ: الواسعُ. الشدقين، تقول منه: هَرِتَ بالكسر. وأسد أهْرَتُ بيِّنُ الهَرَتِ، وهو مَهْروتُ الفمِ. وكلابٌ مُهَرَّتَةُ الأشداقِ. وربَّما قالوا للمرأة المفضاة: هريت.
