هـ د ف: (الْهَدَفُ) كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مُرْتَفِعٍ مِنْ بِنَاءٍ أَوْ كَثِيبِ رَمْلٍ أَوْ جَبَلٍ وَمِنْهُ سُمِّيَ الْغَرَضُ هَدَفًا.

(هَدَفَ) الْهَاءُ وَالدَّالُ وَالْفَاءُ: أُصَيْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى انْتِصَابٍ وَارْتِفَاعٍ. وَالْهَدَفُ: كُلُّ شَيْءٍ عَظِيمٍ مُرْتَفِعٍ، وَلِذَلِكَ سُمِّيَ الرَّجُلُ الشَّخِيصُ الْجَافِي هَدَفًا. قَالَ:

إِذَا الْهَدَفُ الْمِعْزَالُ صَوَّبَ رَأْسَهُ ... وَأَعْجَبَهُ ضَفْوٌ مِنَ الثَّلَّةِ الْخُطْلِ

وَالْهَدَفُ: الْغَرَضُ. وَرَكَبٌ مُسْتَهْدِفٌ: عَرِيضٌ. قَالَ النَّابِغَةُ: وَإِذَا طَعَنْتَ طَعَنْتَ فِي مُسْتَهْدِفٍ

وَامْرَأَةٌ مُهْدِفَةٌ: لَحِيمَةٌ. وَأَهْدَفَ لَكَ الشَّيْءُ: انْتَصَبَ.

وَمِنَ الْبَابِ الْهِدْفَةُ: الْجَمَاعَةُ مِنَ النَّاسِ. فَأَمَّا قَوْلُهُ:

وَحَتَّى سَمِعْنَا خَشْفَ بَيْضَاءَ جَعْدَةٍ ... عَلَى قَدَمَيْ مُسْتَهْدِفٍ مُتَقَاصِرِ

فَالْمُسْتَهْدِفُ: الْحَالِبُ الْمُنْتَصِبُ. يَقُولُ: سَمِعْنَا صَوْتَ الرِّغْوَةِ تَتَسَاقَطُ عَلَى قَدَمِ الْحَالِبِ.
