هو من الهَبْتِ، وهو اللَّينُ والاستِرخَاءُ.
يُقَالُ: في فلانٍ هَبْتَةٌ: أي ضَعْفُ عَقْلٍ، وَهَبَتَهُ بالسَّيفِ: هَبْتًا: ضرَبَهُ ضَرْباً مُتتَابِعاً.
