(هبا) - في الحديث: "فإن حال بَيْنَكم وبَيْنَه سَحابٌ أوْ هَبْوَةٌ"
: أي: غَبَرَةٌ دُون الهلال، وكلّ غَبَرَةٍ هَبْوَة.
وقد هَبَا الغُبَارُ يَهبُو هَبْوًا: سَطَع، وأهبَاه غَيرُه: أَثارَه.

(س) فِي حَدِيثِ الصَّوم «وَإِنْ حَالَ بَيْنَكم وبَيْنَه سَحابٌ أَوْ هَبْوَةٌ فأكْمِلُوا العِدّة» أَيْ دُون الْهِلَالِ. والْهَبْوَةُ: الغَبَرة. ويُقالُ لِدُقاقِ التُّراب إِذَا ارْتَفَع: هَبَا يَهْبُو هَبْواً. وَفِي حَدِيثِ الْحَسَنِ «ثُمَّ اتَّبَعَه مِنَ النَّاس رَعاعٌ هَبَاءٌ» الْهَبَاءُ فِي الْأَصْلِ: مَا ارْتَفع مِنْ تَحْت سَنابِك الخَيْل، والشَّيءُ المُنْبَثُّ الَّذي تَراه فِي ضَوْء الشمسِ، فَشَبَّه بِهِ أتْباعه.
(هـ) وَفِي حَدِيثِ سُهَيل بْنِ عَمْرٍو «أقْبَلَ يَتَهَبَّى كَأَنَّهُ جَملٌ آدَمُ» التَّهَبِّي: مَشْيُ المُخْتال المُعْجِب، مِنْ هَبَا يَهْبُو هَبْواً، إِذَا مَشَى مَشْياً بَطِيئًا. وَجَاءَ يَتَهَبَّى، إِذَا جَاءَ فارِغاً يَنْفُضُ يَدَيْه.
وَفِيهِ «أَنَّهُ حَضَر ثَرِيدَةً فَهَبَّاهَا» أَيْ سَوَّى مَوْضِعَ الأصابِع مِنْهَا. كَذَا رُوِيَ وشرح.
