[نوف] النَوْفُ: السنامُ. والجمع أنْوافٌ. وناف الشئ ينوف، أي طال وارتفع. ذكره ابن دريد. وتنوف في شعر امرئ القيس. هضبة في جبل طيئ. وعبد مناف: أبو هاشم وعبد شمس، والنسبة إليه منافى. وكان القياس عبدى، إلا أنهم عدلوا عن القياس لازالة اللبس.
