(نَطَعَ) النُّونُ وَالطَّاءُ وَالْعَيْنُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى بَسْطٍ فِي شَيْءٍ وَمَلَاسَةٍ. مِنْهُ النِّطْعُ، وَيُقَالُ لَهُ النَّطْعُ، وَهُوَ مَبْسُوطٌ أَمْلَسُ. وَالنَِّطْعُ: مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْ غَارِ الْفَمِ الْأَعْلَى. وَهُوَ كَذَلِكَ. وَالتَّنَطُّعُ فِي الْكَلَامِ: التَّعَمُّقُ، وَهُوَ قِيَاسُهُ لِأَنَّهُ يُتَبَسَّطُ فِيهِ. وَيُسْتَعَارُ، فَيُقَالُ: تَنَطَّعَ الصَّانِعُ فِي صَنْعَتِهِ، أَظْهَرَ حِذْقَهُ.
