مض: مض: أزعج، ضايق (فريتاج، كرست 39:10 وكان بصدد الحديث عن أحد المتآمرين وقد وضع لمن يمسك به جائزة): فأقام حينا مختفيا حتى مضه الاختفاء.
مضض: ارتباك، عسرة، تعذر (ابن الخطيب 88): كان مبتلى بروساوس في وضوئه يتحمل الناس من أجله مضضا في تأخير الصلوات ومضايقة أوقاتها.
مضاض= ممض: انظرها عند (فريتاج والكامل 14: 551).

(مَضَّ) الْمِيمُ وَالضَّادُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى ضَغْطِ الشَّيْءِ لِلشَّيْءِ. مِنْهُ مَضَّنِي الشَّيْءُ وَأَمَضَّنِي: بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْمَشَقَّةَ، كَأَنَّهُ قَدْ ضَغَطَكَ. وَالْمَضْمَضَةُ: تَحْرِيكُ الْمَاءِ فِي الْفَمِ وَضَغْطُهُ. وَالْكُحْلُ يُمِضُّ الْعَيْنَ، إِذَا كَانَتْ لَهُ حُرْقَةٌ. وَمَضِيضُهُ: حُرْقَتُهُ. وَيَقُولُونَ: مِضِّ، وَهِيَ حِكَايَةٌ لِشَيْءٍ يَفْعَلُهُ الْإِنْسَانُ بِشَفَتِهِ إِذَا أَطْمَعَ فِي الشَّيْءِ. يَقُولُونَ لِلرَّجُلِ إِذَا أَقَرَّ بِحَقٍّ عَلَيْهِ: مِضِّ. وَمَثَلٌ مِنْ أَمْثَالِهِمْ: " إِنَّ فِي مِضِّ لَطَمَعًا "، قَالُوا: وَذَلِكَ إِذَا سُئِلَ حَاجَةً فَكَسَرَ شَفَتَيْهِ.
