(مَجَلَ) الْمِيمُ وَالْجِيمُ وَاللَّامُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، وَهِيَ مَجِلَتْ يَدُهُ تَمْجَلُ وَمَجَلَتْ تَمْجُلُ: تَنَفَّطَتْ. وَيَقُولُونَ: جَاءَتِ الْإِبِلُ كَأَنَّهَا الْمَجْلُ، أَيْ مُمْتَلِئَةٌ كَامْتِلَاءِ الْمَجْلِ، وَتَمَجَّلَ قَيْحًا: امْتَلَأَ. وَغَلَطَ ابْنُ دُرَيْدٍ فِي هَذَا الْبِنَاءِ فِي مَوْضِعَيْنِ: ذَكَرَ أَنَّ الْمَاجِلَ: مُسْتَنْقَعُ الْمَاءِ، وَهَذَا مِنْ بَابِ (أَجَلْ) ، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ الْمَجَلَّةَ: الصَّحِيفَةُ، هُوَ مِنْ (جَلَّ) .
