(مَجَعَ) الْمِيمُ وَالْجِيمُ وَالْعَيْنُ كَلِمَتَانِ مُتَبَايِنَتَانِ. فَالْأُولَى الْمَجْعُ: أَكْلُ التَّمْرِ بِاللَّبَنِ، وَذَلِكَ هُوَ الْمَجِيعُ. وَالْمَجَّاعَةُ: الْمُكْثِرُ مِنْهُ. وَمَجَاعَةُ التَّمْرِ وَاللَّبَنِ: بَقِيَّتُهُ. وَشَرِبَ الْمَجَاعَةَ.

وَالْأُخْرَى تَدُلُّ عَلَى رَدَاءَةِ الشَّيْءِ وَقِلَّةِ خَيْرِهِ. يُقَالُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ رَدِيءٍ مِجْعٌ. وَرُبَّمَا قَالُوا لِلْمَاجِنِ مَجِعٌ. وَامْرَأَةٌ مَجِعَةٌ: تَكَلَّمُ بِالْفُحْشِ. وَفِي نِسَاءِ بَنِي فُلَانٍ مَجَاعَةٌ، وَهِيَ أَنْ يُصَرِّحْنَ بِمَا يُكْنَى عَنْهُ مِنَ الرَّفَثِ.
