(كَلَعَ) الْكَافُ وَاللَّامُ وَالْعَيْنُ كَلِمَاتٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى دَرَنٍ وَوَسَخٍ. يَقُولُونَ لِلشُّقَاقِ وَالْوَسَخِ بِالْقَدَمِ: كَلَعٌ، وَقَدْ كَلِعَتْ رِجْلُهُ تَكْلَعُ كَلَعًا. وَإِنَاءٌ كَلِعٌ، إِذَا الْتَبَدَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَسَخُ. وَسِقَاءٌ كَلِعٌ، إِذَا تَرَاكَبَ عَلَيْهِ التُّرَابُ. وَ [يُقَالُ] إِنَّ الْكُلْعَةَ: دَاءٌ يَأْخُذُ الْبَعِيرَ فِي مُؤَخَّرِهِ.

وَمِمَّا يُحْمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا مِنْ مَعْنًى وَاحِدٍ وَهُوَ التَّرَاكُبُ دُونَ الْوَسَخِ: الْكَلَعَةُ مِنَ الْغَنَمِ، سُمِّيَتْ بِذَلِكَ لِتَجَمُّعِهَا.
