[كفح] كَفَحْتُهُ كَفْحاً، إذا استقبلته كَفَّة كَفَّةَ. وفي الحديث: " إني لأكفحها وأنا صائم "، أي أواجهها بالقُبْلَةِ. قال الأصمعي: كَافَحوهُم، إذا استقبلوهم في في الحرب بوجوههم ليس دونها ترسٌ ولا غيره. ويقال: فلان يُكافِحُ الأمور، أي يباشرها بنفسه. وأكْفَحْتُ الدابةَ إكْفاحاً، إذا تلقَّيت فاه باللجام تضربه به ليلتقمَه. قال: وهو من قولهم لقيته كفاحا. والكفيح: الكفء.
