(كَشَفَ) الْكَافُ وَالشِّينُ وَالْفَاءُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى سَرْوِ الشَّيْءِ عَنِ الشَّيْءِ، كَالثَّوْبِ يُسْرَى عَنِ الْبَدَنِ. وَيُقَالُ كَشَفْتُ الثَّوْبَ وَغَيْرَهُ أَكْشِفُهُ. وَالْكَشَفُ: دَائِرَةٌ فِي قُصَاصِ النَّاصِيَةِ، كَأَنَّ بَعْضَ ذَلِكَ الشَّعْرِ يَنْكَشِفُ عَنْ مَغْرِزِهِ وَمَنْبَتِهِ. وَذَلِكَ يَكُونُ فِي الْخَيْلِ الْتِوَاءً يَكُونُ فِي عَسِيبِ الذَّنَبِ. وَالْأَكْشَفُ: الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي لَا تُرْسَ مَعَهُ فِي الْحَرْبِ. وَيُقَالُ: تَكَشَّفَ الْبَرْقُ، إِذَا مَلَأَ السَّمَاءَ. وَالْمَعْنَى صَحِيحٌ، لِأَنَّ الْمُتَكَشِّفَ بَارِزٌ. وَالْكِشَافُ: نِتَاجٌ فِي [إِثْرِ] نِتَاجٍ. [قَالَ ابْنُ دُرَيْدٍ: الْكِشَافُ] : أَنْ تَبْقَى الْأُنْثَى سَنَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا لَا يُحْمَلُ عَلَيْهَا. قَالَ الشَّاعِرُ:. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
