(قَنَتَ) الْقَافُ وَالنُّونُ وَالتَّاءُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى طَاعَةٍ وَخَيْرٍ فِي دِينٍ، لَا يَعْدُو هَذَا الْبَابَ.

وَالْأَصْلُ فِيهِ الطَّاعَةُ، يُقَالُ: قَنَتَ يَقْنُتُ قُنُوتًا. ثُمَّ سُمِّيَ كُلُّ اسْتِقَامَةٍ فِي طَرِيقِ الدِّينِ قُنُوتًا، وَقِيلَ لِطُولِ الْقِيَامِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ قُنُوتٌ، وَسُمِّيَ السُّكُوتُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَالْإِقْبَالُ عَلَيْهَا قُنُوتًا. قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: {وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ} [البقرة: 238] .
