(غَتَمَ) الْغَيْنُ وَالتَّاءُ وَالْمِيمُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى انْفِلَاقٍ فِي الشَّيْءِ وَانْسِدَادٍ. مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْغُتْمَةُ، وَهِيَ الْعُجْمَةُ فِي الْمَنْطِقِ. وَيُقَالُ لِلْأَخْذِ بِالنَّفْسِ: الْغَتْمُ. وَيُقَالُ لِلرَّجُلِ إِذَا مَاتَ: " وَرَدَ حِيَاضَ غُتَيْمٍ "، وَهُوَ ذَلِكَ الْقِيَاسُ لِأَنَّهُ يَأْتِي بَيْتًا مَسْدُودًا.
