قال الخليل: سَمِعْتُ كلمةً شَنعاءَ لا تَجُوزُ في التأليف الرُباعيِّ. سُئِل أعرابيٌّ عن ناقته فقال: تَرَكْتُها تَرْعَى العُهْعُخ، فَسأَلْنا الثِقاتِ من عُلَمائهم فأنكَروا أن يكونَ هذا الإسْمُ من كلام العرب. وقال الفَذُّ منهم: هي شَجَرَةٌ يُتَدَاوَى بوَرَقِها. وقال أعرابيٌّ: إنَّما هو الخُعْخُعُ، وهذا موافق لقياس العربية.
