عسقف: العَسْقَفةُ: نَقِيضُ البكاء، وقيل: هو جُمود العين عن البكاء إذ

أَراده أو هَمَّ به فلم يقدر عليه، وقيل: بكى فلان وعَسْقَف فلان إذا

جَمَدَت عينُه فلم يَقدِر على البكاء.
