. الطَّهْشُ، كالمَنْعِ، أَهْمَلَه الجَوْهَرِيُّ، وَقَالَ ابنُ فارِسٍ: يُقَالُ: هثوَ إِفْسَادُ العَمَلِ. وَقَالَ ابنُ دُرَيْدٍ: الطَّهْشُ فِعْلٌ مُماتٌ، وأَصْلُ الطَّهْشِ: اخْتِلاَطُ الرَّجُلِ فِيمَا أَخَذَ فِيهِ من عَمَلٍ، وإِفْسَادُه إِيّاهُ بيَدِه، أَوْ نَحْوُ ذلِك قالَ: وَمِنْه بِنَاء طَهْوَش كجَرْولٍ اسْمُ رجل.
