[سمج] سمج الشئ بالضم سماجة: قبح فهو سمج، مثل ضخم فهو ضخم، وسمج، مثل خشن فهو خشن، وسميج، مثل قبح فهو قبيح. قال أبو ذؤيب: فإن تصرمى حَبْلي وإن تَتَبَدَّلِي * خليلاً ومنهم صالح وسميج وقوم سماج مثل ضخام. واستسمجه: عدَّه سَمِجاً. والسَمْجُ والسَميجُ: اللبن الدسم الخبيث الطعم. وكذلك السمهج والبزيادة الهاء واللام.
