ابن دريدِ: ذَهوطْ - مثالُ جرولٍ -:موْضعّ.
والذّهيوطُ - مثال عذْيوط -: موضع أيضاً، قال النابغة الذبيانيّ يمدحُ عمروَ بن هندٍ مضرط الحجارةَ:
فداءّ ما تقلّ النعلُ منيّ ... إلى أعلى الذؤابةِ للهمامِ
ومغزاه قبائلَ غائطاتٍ ... إلى الذّهبوطِ في لجبٍ لهامِ
