دمشق: دَمْشَق. دمشقة: هذبه أزال غلظته وجفاءه، وجعله يتخلق بأخلاق مهذبة لطيفة ويراد به: جعله يتخلق بأخلاق أهل دمشق (محيط المحيط) (1071).
تدمشق: مطاوع دمشق بالمعنى السابق (محيط المحيط) (1071).

دِمِشْقُ، كحِضَجْرٍ، وقد تُكْسَرُ مِيمُه: قاعِدَةُ الشَّأْمِ، سُمِّيَتْ ببانيها دِمْشاقَ بنِ كَنْعانَ، أو دامَشْقَيوسَ.
ودِمَشْقينُ، كفِلَسْطِينَ: ة بمِصْر.
وناقةٌ وجَمَلٌ ورجُلٌ دَمْشَقٌ، كجعفرٍ وحِضَجْرٍ وزِبْرِجٍ وعُلابِطٍ: سريعةٌ.
ورجُلٌ دَمْشَقُ اليَدينِ: سريعُ العَمَلِ بهما.
ودَمْشِقوا الأمرَ: ائْتوهُ بالعَجَلَةِ.
والمُدَمْشَقُ: المُصَهَّبُ من الشِّواءِ.
