(حَيَدَ) الْحَاءُ وَالْيَاءُ وَالدَّالُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ الْمَيْلُ وَالْعُدُولُ عَنْ طَرِيقِ الِاسْتِوَاءِ. يُقَالُ حَادَ عَنِ الشَّيْءِ يَحِيدُ حَيْدَةً وَحُيُودًا. وَالْحَيُودُ: الَّذِي يَحِيدُ كَثِيرًا، وَمِثْلُهُ الْحَيَدَى عَلَى فَعَلَى. قَالَ الْهُذَلِيُّ:

أَوْ أَصْحَمَ حَامٍ جَرَامِيزَهُ ... حَزَابِيةٍ حَيَدَى بِالدِّحَالِ

الْحَيْدُ: النَّادِرُ مِنَ الْجَبَلِ، وَالْجَمْعِ حُيُودٌ وَأَحْيَادٌ. وَالْحُيُودُ: حُيُودُ قَرْنِ الظَّبْيِ، وَهِيَ الْعُقَدُ فِيهِ، وَكُلُّ ذَلِكَ رَاجِعٌ إِلَى أَصْلٍ وَاحِدٍ.
