ج و ع: الْجُوعُ ضِدُّ الشِّبَعِ تَقُولُ: (جَاعَ) يَجُوعُ (جُوعًا) وَ (مَجَاعَةً) أَيْضًا بِالْفَتْحِ. وَ (الْجَوْعَةُ) بِالْفَتْحِ الْمَرَّةُ الْوَاحِدَةُ، وَقَوْمٌ (جِيَاعٌ) وَ (جُوَّعٌ) بِوَزْنِ سُكَّرٍ. وَعَامُ (مَجَاعَةٍ) وَ (مَجْوَعَةٍ) بِسُكُونِ الْجِيمِ وَ (أَجَاعَهُ) وَ (جَوَّعَهُ) بِمَعْنًى. وَ (تَجَوَّعَ) تَعَمَّدَ (الْجُوعَ) .
