(ثُفْرٌ) الثَّاءُ وَالْفَاءُ وَالرَّاءُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى الْمُؤَخَّرِ. فَالثَّفَرُ ثَفَرُ الدَّابَّةِ. وَيُقَالُ اسْتَثْفَرَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ بِثَوْبِهَا إِذَا ائْتَزَرَتْ بِهِ ثُمَّ رَدَّتْ طَرَفَ الْإِزَارِ مِنْ بَيْنِ رِجْلَيْهَا وَغَرَزَتْهُ فِي الْحُجْزَةِ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ. وَالثَّفْرُ الْحَيَاءُ مِنَ السَّبُعَةِ وَغَيْرِهَا. قَالَ:

جَزَى اللَّهُ فِيهَا الْأَعْوَرَيْنِ مَلَامَةً ... وَعَبْدَةَ ثَفْرَ الثَّوْرَةِ الْمُتَضَاجِمِ
