قيل: هو طَائِر مُحتَرِق الرِّيش، إن وَقَعَت رِيشَةٌ منه على الطَّيرِ أَحرَقتْه.

- فِي حَدِيثِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ «احْشُرُوا الطَّيْر إِلَّا الشَّنْقاءَ وَالرَّنْقَاءَ والبُلَت» البُلَت: طائر محترق الرِّيشِ، إِذَا وقعَتْ رِيشَةٌ مِنْهُ فِي الطَّيْر أحرقته.

(بَلَتَ) الْبَاءُ وَاللَّامُ وَالتَّاءُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ الِانْقِطَاعُ. وَكَأَنَّهُ مِنَ الْمَقْلُوبِ عَنْ بَتَلَ. يَقُولُ الْعَرَبُ: تَكَلَّمَ حَتَّى بَلِتَ. قَالَ الشَّنْفَرَى:

عَلَى أُمِّهَا وَإِنْ تُخَاطِبْكَ تَبْلَِتِ فَأَمَّا قَوْلُهُمْ: مَهْرٌ مَضْمُونٌ مُبَلَّتٌ، فَهُوَ فِي هَذَا أَيْضًا ; لِأَنَّهُ مَقْطُوعٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ. عَلَى أَنَّ فِي الْكَلِمَةِ شَكًّا. وَأَنْشَدُوا:

وَمَا زُوِّجَتْ إِلَّا بِمَهْرٍ مُبَلَّتِ

وَيُقَالُ إِنَّ الْبَلِيتَ كَلَأُ عَامَيْنِ، وَهُوَ فِي هَذَا ; لِأَنَّهُ يَتَقَطَّعُ وَيَتَكَسَّرُ. قَالَ:

رَعَيْنَ بَلِيتًا سَاعَةً ثُمَّ إِنَّنَا ... قَطَعْنَا عَلَيْهِنَّ الْفِجَاجَ الطَّوَامِسَا
