(بربط) - عن عَلِىِّ بن الحُسَين قال: "ما قُدّسَت أُمّةٌ فيها البَرْبَطُ".
قيل: إنّما سُمِّى بَرْبَطاً، لأَنَّ الضاربَ به يَضَعُه على صدره، والصَّدر بالفارسية يسمى: بَرْ، والبَرْبَط: فارِسِىّ مُعَرَّب، وإنما هو: بَرْبَت.

(س) فِي حَدِيثِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ «لَا قُدِّسَتْ أُمّة فِيهَا البَرْبَط» البَرْبَط مَلْهاة تُشْبه العُود، وَهُوَ فَارِسِيٌّ مُعَرَّبٌ. وَأَصْلُهُ بَرْبَت؛ لِأَنَّ الضَّارِبَ بِهِ يضَعُه عَلَى صَدْرِهِ، وَاسْمُ الصَّدر: بَر.
