اللَّتْمُ، الطَّعْنُ في المَنْحَرِ، والضَّرْبُ، والرَّمْيُ، وبالتحريكِ: الجِراحَةُ، وسَمَّوْا: مِلْتَماً ولَتيماً، كمِنْبَرٍ وأميرٍ وصاحِبٍ.
ومُلاتِماتُ، بالضم وكسرِ التاءِ: قَبيلَةٌ من الأزْدِ، فإذا سُئِلوا عن نَسَبِهِم، قالوا: نَحْنُ بَنو مُلاتَمٍ، بفتح التاءِ.
