الِاعْتِبَار: رد الشَّيْء إِلَى نَظِيره بِأَن يحكم عَلَيْهِ بِحكمِهِ وَمِنْه سمي الأَصْل الَّذِي يرد إِلَيْهِ النَّظَائِر عِبْرَة. وَهَذَا يَشْمَل الْأَلْفَاظ وَالْقِيَاس الْعقلِيّ الَّذِي هُوَ الْقسم الأول من الْحجَّة. والشرعي الَّذِي هُوَ التَّمْثِيل فِي اصْطِلَاح أَرْبَاب الْمَعْقُول. وَقيل الِاعْتِبَار الْأَلْفَاظ وَقد يسْتَعْمل فِي الْقيَاس فِي الْأُمُور الْعَقْلِيَّة كَمَا فِي قَوْله تَعَالَى {فاعتبروا يَا أولي الْأَبْصَار} أَي فقيسوا وتنقيح هَذَا الْمقَام وتوضيحه فِي التَّلْوِيح.
