كرع

1 كَرَعَ فِى المَآءِ

, and فِى الإِنَآءِ, He put his mouth into the water, or into the vessel, and so drank. (See عَبَّ.) كَراَعٌ

: see عِدٌّ.

كُرَاعٌ

: see حَرَّةٌ, رَكَضَ, ذِرَاعٌ, and بَدَنٌ.

كُرْسُوعٌ The prominent extremity of the ulna, next to the little finger, at the wrist. (S, * K.)

(كَرَعَ) الْكَافُ وَالرَّاءُ وَالْعَيْنُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى دِقَّةٍ فِي بَعْضِ أَعْضَاءِ الْحَيَوَانِ. مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْكُرَاعُ، وَهُوَ مِنَ الْإِنْسَانِ مَا دُوَنَ الرُّكْبَةِ، وَمِنَ الدَّوَابِّ: مَا دُونَ الْكَعْبِ. قَالَ الْخَلِيلُ: تَكَرَّعَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ لِلصَّلَاةِ لِأَنَّهُ يَغْسِلُ أَكَارِعَهُ. قَالَ: وَكُرَاعُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ: طَرَفُهُ. قَالَ: وَالْكُرَاعُ مِنَ الْحَرَّةِ: مَا اسْتَطَالَ مِنْهَا، قَالَ مُهَلْهَلٌ:

لَمَّا تَوَقَّلَ فِي الْكُرَاعِ هَجِينُهُمْ ... هَلْهَلْتُ أَثْأَرُ جَابِرًا أَوْ صِنْبِلَا

فَأَمَّا تَسْمِيَتُهُمُ الْخَيْلَ كُرَاعًا فَإِنَّ الْعَرَبَ قَدْ تُعَبِّرُ عَنِ الْجِسْمِ بِبَعْضِ أَعْضَائِهِ، كَمَا يُقَالُ: أَعْتَقَ رَقَبَةً، وَوَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ. فَيُمْكِنُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْخَيْلُ سُمِّيَتْ كُرَاعًا لِأَكَارِعِهَا، وَالْكَرَعُ: دِقَّةُ السَّاقَيْنِ. فَأَمَّا الْكَرَعُ فَهُوَ مَاءُ السَّمَاءِ، وَسُمِّيَ بِهِ لِأَنَّهُ يُكْرَعُ فِيهِ، وَقِيلَ لِأَنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ يُكْرِعُ فِيهِ أَكَارِعَهُ، أَوْ يَأْخُذُهُ بِيَدَيْهِ، وَهُمَا بِمَعْنَى الْكُرَاعَيْنِ، إِذَا كَانَا طَرَفَيْنِ.
