[شظف] قال أبو زيد: الشَظَفُ: الضيق والشدة، مثل الضفف. وقال ولقد لقيتُ من المعيشةِ لَذَّةً ولَقيتُ من شَظَفِ الأمورِ شِدادَها وكذلك الشظاف. ومنه قول الكميت: وراجٍ لِينَ تَغْلِبَ عن شِظافٍ كمتدن الصفاكيما يلينا والشظيف من الشجر: الذي لم يجدْ رِيَّهُ فصَلُبَ من غير أن تذهب نُدُوَّتُهُ. تقول منه: شظف بالضم. قال الراجز: وانعاج عودي كالشظيف الاخشن عند اقورار الجلد والتشنن وبعير شَظِفُ الخِلاطِ، أي يخالط الإبل مخالطةً شديدة. وشَظِفَ السهمُ، إذا دخل بين الجلد واللحم.
