اليَعاقِيبُ: ذُكُور الحَجَلِ، الواحد يَعْقُوب.

- فِي حَدِيثِ عُمر «حَتَّى إِذَا صَارَ مِثْلَ عَيْن الْيَعْقُوبُ أكَلْنَا هَذَا وشَرِبْنَا هَذَا» الْيَعْقُوبُ: ذَكَر الحَجَلِ. يُريد أنَّ الشَّراب صارَ فِي صَفاء عَيْنِه. وجَمْعُه: يَعَاقِيبُ.
(س) وَفِي حَدِيثِ عُثْمَانَ «صُنِع لَهُ طَعَامٌ فِيهِ الحَجَلُ والْيَعَاقِيبُ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ» وَقَدْ تَكَرَّرَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ.
