(هـ) فِي حَدِيثِ أُمِّ زَرْع «لَحْم جَمَلٍ غَثّ، عَلَى جَبَلٍ وَعْرٍ» أَيْ غليظٍ حَزْن، يَصْعُبُ الصُّعودُ إِلَيْهِ. وَقَدْ وَعُرَ بِالضَّمِّ وُعُورَةً. شَبَّهَتْه بلَحْمٍ هَزِيلٍ لَا يُنْتَفَع بِهِ، وَهُوَ مَعَ هَذَا صَعْب الوُصُول والمَنال.

(وَعَرَ) الْوَاوُ وَالْعَيْنُ وَالرَّاءُ: كَلِمَةٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى صَلَابَةٍ وَخُشُونَةٍ. وَمَكَانٌ وَعْرٌ بَيِّنُ الْوُعُورَةِ، وَوَعِرَ يَوْعُرُ وَتَوَعَّرَ. وَفُلَانٌ وَعْرُ الْمَعْرُوفِ: نَكِدُهُ. وَسَأَلْنَاهُ حَاجَةً فَتَوَعَّرَ عَلَيْنَا، أَيْ تَشَدَّدَ.
