[وط ث] الوَطْثُ: الضَّرْبُ الشَّديدُ بالخُفِّ، قَالَ:

(تَطْوِي المَوانِي وتَصُكُّ الوَعْثا ... )

(بجَبْهةِ المِرْداسِ وَطْثاً وَطْثاً ... )

وزَعَمَ يَعقُوبُ أَنَّ ثَاءَ ((وَطْثٍٍ) بَدَلٌ من سِين ((وَطْسٍ)) ، وهو: الكَسْرُ.
