(وَرَفَ) الْوَاوُ وَالرَّاءُ وَالْفَاءُ: أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى رِقَّةٍ وَنَضْرَةٍ. وَنَبَاتٌ وَارِفٌ. وَرَفَ وَرِيفًا، إِذَا رَأَيْتَ لَهُ مِنْ رِيِّهِ بَهْجَةً. وَظِلٌّ وَارِفٌ: مَمْدُودٌ. وَمَا رَقَّ مِنْ نَوَاحِي الْكَبِدِ: الْوَرْفُ. وَيُقَالُ إِنَّ الرُّفَةَ: التِّبْنُ. وَأَظُنُّ أَنَّ النَّاقِصَ مِنْ أَوَّلِهَا وَاوٌ.
