(هور) - في الحديث: "خَطَبَ أنس - رضي الله عنه - بالبَصْرَة، فقال: مَنْ يَتَّقِ الله تعالى لا هَوارَةَ عليه، فَلم يَدْرُوا ما قالَ، قال: فقال يَحْيى بن يَعْمَر: أي لا ضَيْعَةَ عليه".

(هَوَرَ) الْهَاءُ وَالْوَاوُ وَالرَّاءُ: أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى تَسَاقُطِ شَيْءٍ. مِنْهُ تَهَوَّرَ الْبِنَاءُ: انْهَدَمَ. وَتَهَوَّرَ اللَّيْلُ: انْكَسَرَ ظَلَامُهُ، كَأَنَّهُ تَهَدَّمَ وَمَرَّ. وَتَهَوَّرَ الشِّتَاءُ: ذَهَبَ أَشَدُّهُ. وَيَقُولُونَ لِلْقَطِيعِ مِنَ الْغَنَمِ: هَوْرٌ ; وَهُوَ صَحِيحٌ لِأَنَّهُ مِنْ كَثْرَتِهِ يَتَسَاقَطُ بَعْضُهُ عَلَى بَعْضٍ.

وَمِمَّا شَذَّ عَنِ الْبَابِ قَوْلُهُمْ: هُرْتُ فُلَانًا بِكَذَا أَهُورُهُ: أَزْنَنْتُهُ بِهِ. قَالَ:

رَأَى أَنَّنِي لَا بِالْكَثِيرِ أَهُورُهُ
