[هذز] الهنداز معرب، وأصله بالفارسية " أندازة " يقال: أعطاه بلا حساب ولا هِنْدازٍ. ومنه المُهَنْدِزُ، وهو الذي يقدِّر مجاريَ القُنِيِّ والأبنية. إلا أنهم صيروا الزاى سينا فقالوا: مهندس، لانه ليس في كلام العرب زاى قبلها دال.
