من (ن ط ر) حافظ الزرع والتمر والكرم أي حارسه، والكمة من أصل آرامي ومادة نطر في الأرامية تقابل نظر في العربية تستخدم في بلاد الشام وبعض مناطق العراق والخليج بمعنى الحارس.
