(ن ي ل) : (النِّيلُ) نَهْرُ مِصْرَ وَبِالْكُوفَةِ نَهْرٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ النِّيلُ أَيْضًا وَهُوَ فِيمَا ذَكَرَ النَّاطِفِيُّ خَرَجَ مِنْ النِّيلِ يُرِيدُ كَذَا (وَنَالَ) مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ أَضَرَّ بِهِ (وَمِنْهُ) قَوْله تَعَالَى {وَلا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ نَيْلا} [التوبة: 120] (وَبِاسْمِ الْفَاعِلَةِ) مِنْهُ سُمِّيَتْ نَائِلَةُ بِنْتُ الْفُرَافِصَةِ الْكَلْبِيَّةُ تَزَوَّجَهَا عُثْمَانُ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - عَلَى نِسَائِهِ وَهِيَ نَصْرَانِيَّةٌ.
