(ن و ح) : (نَاحَتْ) الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ إذَا نَدَبَتْهُ وَذَلِكَ أَنْ تَبْكِيَ عَلَيْهِ وَتُعَدِّدَ مَحَاسِنَهُ (وَالنِّيَاحَةُ) الِاسْمُ وَمِنْهُ الْحَدِيثُ عَلَى مَا قَرَأْتُهُ فِي الْفَائِقِ «ثَلَاثٌ مِنْ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الطَّعْنُ فِي الْأَنْسَابِ وَالنِّيَاحَةُ وَالْأَنْوَاءُ» فَالطَّعْنُ مَعْرُوفٌ وَالنِّيَاحَةُ مَا ذُكِرَ وَالْأَنْوَاءُ جَمْعُ نَوْءٍ وَهِيَ مَنَازِلُ الْقَمَرِ وَالْعَرَبُ كَانَتْ تَعْتَقِدُ أَنَّ الْأَمْطَارَ وَالْخَيْرَ كُلَّهُ يَجِيءُ مِنْهَا وَقِيلَ النَّوْحُ بُكَاءٌ مَعَ صَوْتٍ وَمِنْهُ نَاحَ الْحَمَامُ نَوْحًا وَلَمَّا كَانَتْ النَّوَائِحُ تُقَابِلُ بَعْضُهُنَّ بَعْضًا فِي الْمَنَاحَةِ قَالُوا الْجَبَلَانِ يَتَنَاوَحَانِ وَالرِّيَاحُ تَتَنَاوَحُ أَيْ تَتَقَابَلُ وَهَذِهِ نَيِّحَةُ تِلْكَ أَيْ مُقَابِلَتُهَا وَمَنْ قَالَ الْأَصْلُ التَّقَابُلُ فَقَدْ عَكَسَ ابْنُ النَّوَّاحَةِ فِي ك ف.
