(نَكَعَ) النُّونُ وَالْكَافُ وَالْعَيْنُ أَصْلَانِ: أَحَدُهُمَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى لَوْنٍ مِنَ الْأَلْوَانِ، وَالْآخَرُ عَلَى حَبْسٍ وَرَدٍّ.

فَالْأَوَّلُ: الْأَنْكَعُ: الْأَحْمَرُ الْمُتَقَشِّرُ الْأَنْفِ. يُقَالُ مِنْهُ نَكِعٌ. وَنَكَعَةُ الطُّرْثُوتِ مِنْ أَعْلَاهُ إِلَى قَدْرِ إِصْبَعٍ، عَلَيْهِ قِشْرَةٌ حَمْرَاءُ. وَشَفَةٌ نَكِعَةٌ، شَدِيدَةُ الْحُمْرَةِ.

وَمِنَ الْأَصْلِ الْآخَرِ: نَكَعَهُ حَقَّهُ، إِذَا حَبَسَهُ عَنْهُ. وَنَكَعَهُ عَنْهُ: دَفَعَهُ. وَنَكَعْتُهُ بِالسَّيْفِ وَغَيْرِهِ: دَفَعْتُهُ. وَنَكَعْتُهُ عَنْ حَاجَتِهِ رَدَدْتُهُ عَنْهَا. وَمِنْهُ نَكَعْتُهُ الشَّيْءَ مِثْلُ نَقَصْتُهُ، كَأَنَّكَ دَفَعْتَهُ عَنْ إِكْمَالِهِ أَكْلًا وَشُرْبًا.

وَمِنَ الْبَابِ النَّكُوعُ: الْمَرْأَةُ الْقَصِيرَةُ، وَالْجَمْعُ نُكُعٌ، كَأَنَّهَا حُبِسَتْ عَنْ أَنْ تَطُولَ. وَرَجُلٌ هُكَعَةٌ نُكَعَةٌ: يَثْبُتُ مَكَانَهُ لَا يَبْرَحُ، وَهُوَ مِنَ الْحَبْسِ أَيْضًا.
