النفل: لغةً: اسم للزيادة، ولهذا سميت الغنيمة نفلًا لأنه زيادة على ما هو المقصود من شرعية الجهاد وهو إعلاء كلمة الله وقهر أعدائه، وفي الشرع اسم لما شرع زيادة على الفرائض والواجبات وهو المسمى بالمندوب والمستحب والتطوع.

نُفَل
من (ن ف ل) ثلاث ليال بعد الغرر وذلك أول ما يهل الهلال وسميت غرر لأن بياضها قليل كغرة الفرس.

(نَفَلَ) النُّونُ وَالْفَاءُ وَاللَّامُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى عَطَاءٍ وَإِعْطَاءٍ. مِنْهُ النَّافِلَةُ: عَطِيَّةُ الطَّوْعِ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا تَجِبُ. وَمِنْهُ نَافِلَةُ الصَّلَاةِ. وَالنَّوْفَلُ: الرَّجُلُ الْكَثِيرُ الْعَطَاءِ. قَالَ:

يَأْبَى الظُّلَامَةَ مِنْهُ النَّوْفَلُ الزُّفَرُ

وَمِنَ الْبَابِ النَّفَلُ: الْغُنْمُ. وَالْجَمْعُ أَنْفَالٌ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الْإِمَامَ يُنَفِّلُ الْمُحَارِبِينَ، أَيْ يُعْطِيهِمْ مَا غَنِمُوهُ. يُقَالُ: نَفَّلْتُكَ: أَعْطَيْتُكَ نَفَلًا. وَقَوْلُهُمْ: انْتَفَلَ مِنَ الشَّيْءِ انْتَفَى مِنْهُ، فَمِنَ الْإِبْدَالِ، وَاللَّامُ بَدَلٌ مِنَ الْيَاءِ. قَالَ الْمُتَلَمِّسُ:

أَمُنْتَفِلًا مِنْ نَصْرِ بُهْثَةَ خِلْتَنِي ... أَلَا إِنَّنِي مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ كُنْتُ أَيْنَمَا.
